About Us
"I grew up working for a father who was a residential contractor and I had a natural attraction to the art and the fine arts, which lead to a love of architecture. Early in my career, I saw a large discrepancy between architecture and design as an art form, and the actual building process as a way to create efficient and functional homes. I have made it one of my greatest goals in my career to bridge that gap. After working in carpentry, construction, painting and taping, to engineering, architecture, and visual art, I strive to look at projects from as many angles as I can."
- Jon Nelson, Designer/Founder
Encompass Design was founded on the idea that design should be approached with an ‘all-encompassing’ viewpoint for residential and commercial design. Design isn't only about:
-Energy efficiency
-Construction and Material Cost Effectiveness
-Tailored Function and Character for your lifestyle
-Impeccable style
-Site and Structural Feasibility
It is about all of these things, at the same time.
This is what it means to fully encompass the design process.
Jon has over 18 years experience in the building design field, and been involved in over 300 completed projects, with the majority of them based in Minnesota, but a few as far as Texas, California, and outside the US.
